Connection from Astro Bayou to Brays Bayou
The primary goal of the project was to transform the Astrodome site with its large-scale event centers and sprawling parking lots into a livable, walkable, and sustainable collection of neighborhoods. The AstroTurf neighborhood is shaped by the new Astro Bayou that connects to Brays Bayou north of the site. The linear park has several functions:
- Stormwater Detention
- Pedestrian Highway, connection to Metro Station
- Wildlife Habitat
- Human Habitat (playground, sports fields, amphitheater)

We created four neighborhods to offer a variety of experiences. Tranquility Way for a quieter life, it is located away from NRG Stadium. The High-rise District welcomes people from the Metro Station or either major road through the site. Rowdy Street is full of entertainment and nightlife to celebrate the Houston Texans. And finally, a Cultural Neighborhood with a medical-focused high school and arts center.
